University of Pennsylvania Chapter

The U Penn Chapter of TIES TO THE WORLD is comprised of a dozen energized students who are committed to the TIES TO THE WORLD mission.

They work with the Wharton School of Business to aid TIES TO THE WORLD in formatting a business plan and scripting grant proposals, to become a group under Penn's Civic House to take advantage of mentoring and networking resources, and to create a partnership with Penn International Business Volunteers in order to use their consulting services and to possibly plan a trip to Guatemala through TIES TO THE WORLD program.

Current Chapter projects include raising funds for students' scholarships, allocating previously raised funds for the educational program, blueprinting and accountability plan, creating an imovie presentation to send to donors, and drafting TIES TO THE WORLD first grant proposal.

University of the Pacific Chapter 2007

Students at the University of the Pacific Chapter bring to the table a unique set of resources. Their chapter operates out of the Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship, working with Pacific's School of Internationals Studies

In two months the chapter grew to 22 members focused on creating a business plan and fundraising. They have involved their residence hall with an Adopt-a-Child program to generate funds for scholarships for the orphans. To get campus and local community informed and active towards creating sustainable solutions, they are having a 5K walk/run. Their two leaders will be in Guatemala in January to do research, conduct a feasibility study, and share time with the orphans and staff.

"Our mission is to establish a set of trade business practices that can help orphanges create financial self-sustaninability while teaching the children life skills and successful independent living."
